How to Create a Product Line With 3 Easy Tips!

Deciding on creating your own product line is an exciting, confusing and overwhelming time.


Starting your business, means taking lots of steps such as setting up the business structure, creating a website, choosing your product names and such. And sometimes it is very confusing once you get


down to the nuts and bolts of creating your product line.


Here are 3 tips to help make the process easier:


1. Decide on your category.


Think of your category as a your “what” what type of product are you selling. A supplement? Skin care? Make up product?



2. Narrow that choice down further.

Now that you know your category, think of the benefit – is it natural skincare, organic make up, sulfate free hair products? Get specific on who your customer is and the benefit that your product line will provide.

3. Make your initial product choices.



Now is the time to list out ALL of the products that you want to launch. Go ahead and list all 20 as this is the only time that you can do this. Do it now, as this is the only time that you can do this step. Ask any of my clients and we use this list as the starting point to creating a product development and launching strategy.

Once you have made your list, categorize them so that you can see if any are redundant or don’t make sense in your overall product selection.


Now, select your Top 3-5 products.



Take that list and select your top 3-5 products.  Please make sure that they make sense.

Hair care: Treatment, shampoo, conditioner
Make up: Lip gloss, treatment and lip plumper.
Skin Care: Anti-aging moisturizer, eye product, face & neck décolleté


Narrowing down your products will allow you to launch with out feeling overwhelm and making the process more manageable.


Once you have successfully created your product line with the initial product offering you can create that initial list that we created in step 3.


It takes focus to launch new products. You just need to focus, get clear and launch with a plan to make your new product line a success!
